Les Arts Décoratifs

I've talked about the Art Décoratifs museum here before and I have been many times between now and then. I've been craving for more Art lately, I've been feeling the urge of going to museums. They are my safe place, there is nothing I love more than the quietness of a museum and its smell, the smell of carefully polished wooden floor, if it's creaking, it's even better. I like the Arts Décoratifs museum (beside the fact of what's in it) because it's never busy, I can walk around the rooms and have it all for myself, I can imagine stories, the life of those people who lived with those objects and pieces of furniture, I can imagine what it would be like to live in a 1920's modern, design flat...

As much as Art is a reflection of a time and its society, objects, furniture, interiors interest me even more. I love to know how people use to live, what they used, how they used it, what their days were like, it fascinates me. I have a nostalgia for time past. And more specifically I will go anywhere I can see some Art Deco.

Le Château du Taureau

Photos from last September. Photos of a sunny day on which we drove to the coast to take a boat. Early morning in the cold foggy salty sea air. The best kind of mornings. Memories of a day with people that are important to me, my other half and Aurélie, we share the same aching soul. Memories that will stay with me.

Around here lately - November/December

1. Purring therapy several hours a day. I need a cat full time.
2. Salad Lyonnaise.
3. We ate a few poached eggs.
4. My Dad's classical record collection is growing (that's just half of it)
5. Winter light and avocado trees.
6. My sister baked my favourite, cannelés.
7. Fairy lights.
8. And Christmas tree.

There was also a ridiculous amount of rum cakes, apple tarts and pizza eating, of cat brushing and cuddling, of fizzy cocktails and late nights. We are going back to Brittany tomorrow, not long before Christmas now! I'm all excited. And then we are off to London, I cannot wait.

Curry Night

Last week we got the house to ourselves, first date night in a while. It was good to have time for ourselves and feel free around the house. For the occasion we made a mess of the kitchen and cooked curry from scratch, we had a korma and a dopiaza. We couldn't find any naan bread, so we turned pitta bread into naans, a lot of butter, fresh coriander and garlic in a pan. Next time we'll make them as well, even though it worked out pretty well. I was also very excited about using for the very first time the art deco silverware we got for our wedding. It was a traditional gift for the newly wed to start their household.

We had a few drinks, played music in the basement as loud as we wanted, the perks of living in the middle of nowhere with no close neighbours, and just enjoyed those 30 hours of being alone in the world (no car, we literally couldn't go anywhere).

I've been back to harsh reality with more troubles with the French administration. I was ready to just book a ticket back to England. I now can't afford social security because I am not receiving any money from the state. If I was I wouldn't need to pay. It is a never ending process of forms and letters and paperwork. I feel close to giving up and I am grateful we have a roof above our heads, without family I wouldn't be able to live into my own country anymore. We are going to go to my home town for a few weeks and see if administration works a bit better there. Fingers crossed.
